Alexa’s traffic estimates and ranks are based on the browsing behavior of people in our global data panel which is a sample of all internet users. This means it is not calculated from all users but a sample size.
Alexa’s Traffic Ranks are for domains only and do not provide separate rankings for subpages within a domain. In contrast, google ranks each page to decide it's search results position.

The data is more accurate given the greater sample source, but for lower ranking sites of 100,000+ the accuracy can be dubious.
