9 Foods To Avoid If You Have Arthritis

  • 1. Sugars and refined carbs- Cut out candies, processed foods, white flour baked goods, and sodas to reduce your arthritis pain.
  • 2. Excess salt- Excess consumption of salt may result in inflammation of your joints. Reducing your salt intake to as modest an amount as is reasonable may help.
  • 3. Alcohol- If you consume alcohol, you have a higher risk for developing gout.
  • 4. Tobacco- Healthy joints require a balanced diet, physical activity, and an adequate amount of rest, all of which can be compromised by alcohol and tobacco use.
  • 5. Dairy products- Instead of getting protein from meat and dairy, try getting most of your protein from vegetables like spinach, nut butters, tofu, beans, lentils, and quinoa to ease arthritis symptoms.
  • 6. Fried and processed foods- Cut down on the amount of fried and processed foods you eat, such as fried meats and prepared frozen meals. Include more vegetables and fruits in your diet.
  • 7. Tea and coffee- Cut down on such beverages and include green tea in your diet instead which is rich in polyphenols.
  • 8. Read-to-eat foods- The canned and packed foods have a lot of added preservatives that are detrimental to health, hence always opt for fresh home-made food.
  • 9. Corn oil- Corn oil has a high amount of omega-6 fatty acids. Replace foods containing omega-6 fatty acids with healthy, anti-inflammatory omega-3 alternatives such as olive oil, nuts, flax seeds, and pumpkin seeds.
